⁣House of Worth ball gown, Ca. 1900-1905⠀ English dress of aubergine coloured silk, with deep V-neck to the bodice and gigot sleeves. Also featured, 1830s pelerine collar of whitework embroidered muslin.⠀ Victorian visiting dress. Two-piece dress of gleaming white satin, and trimmed with wide bands of black velvet.⠀ Two piece dress of grey silk taffeta, worn by Ella Merriweather on her wedding day in November 1874.⁣ Gala dress belonging to Queen Maud of Norway.⠀ Edwardian wedding dress. Two-piece cream silk gown comprising boned bodice, skirt and bertha.⠀ Designed by Charles-Frederick Worth, this ivory silk satin evening dress features gigot sleeves and delicate pale pink silk chiffon accents. The skirt is a masterpiece, with sunbeam and cloud patterns of pink silk tulle and bead embroidery. Timeless beauty in every stitch.⠀ The 'Queen Elizabeth II: Her Life in Style' exhibition opens today at the Kings Gallery. One of the many fabulous items on display is this beautiful teal velvet coat, made by Norman Hartnell for the then Princess Elizabeth.
